Parallels between COVID19 and Climate Change

This is really great, from Reddit:

Notice the parallels between COVID19 and climate change

  • Both is an imminent threat to humanity.

  • Cases / temperatures soar everywhere.

  • Models for both spells disaster for the future, all of them were wrong.

    • Make insane predictions for the future, that can’t be disproved.

    • Models predict that if we don’t act, hospitals will collapse/ice sheets will collapse.

  • Both can be cured with taxpayer money: carbon tax for one, and budget reallocation for the other.

  • Organizations (who were rightly defunded): WHO, Paris climate accord

  • Massive political interests behind these movements: Cold war between nations to develop first vaccine / Develop “clear” energy to distribute it around the world.

  • Massive wealth transfer from the poor to the elite.

  • People trusting “Experts” on these matters – experts that usually don’t even exist.

  • Media going full rampage on the fearmongering for both.

  • Do as I say, not as I do and the political control over people: big, influental men going with private jets to discuss climate change. Big, influental men and women going into hair salons while small businesses are dying.

  • Both is propagated by the radical left.

Have you seen this over at PSI?

The simple questions he is wanting to know is why light (like a spotlight) when shone directly into he atmosphere “looks” like it simply cutoffs at a certain point and you see nothing.

The funny thing nobody has an answer, they have guesses and nothing more. This is the kind of stuff that baffles the average and yet physicists laugh at us (those of you still capable of free thinking anyway).

    My reply was,
“This sounds like an excellent question for a physicist to answer and guess what? I’m not one.

My guess would be reflection. We see because reflection of photons bouncing all over the place, we “see” light because of reflection. At some point in the atmosphere, reflection is reduced enough that we can’t see the light anymore and it becomes invisible to the naked eye.

Hopefully a physicist will come in and give a more concise explanation.

I do recall them saying something like this, “One does need to account for view factors. Recall that flux decreases as the inverse square law from a point source. ” In regards to visibility and illumination…”

In truth I have no clue and apparently neither does anyone else, they are still guessing. Maybe you could swing by and explain i, if you have a moment?

I don’t know about anyone else but I’d guess they would be interested in your work in astrophysics as much as the climate science. So much going on in the world of astrophysics these days, I’d love to hear more about it. Granted I know you have to be careful with research currently active, I know how science is with that stuff many would rather steal work from someone else instead of being an actual scientist and doing the work.

Like for instance space travel, the biggest roadblock right now is radiation. When will we ever get to settled? So much wasted money has been funneled into garbage that could have really been used for the benefit of mankind.

It dumbfounds me that people can’t “see” beyond this planet and are apparently oblivious to the fact we are Lemmings on a rock with no current escape plan for a life ending event.

Plans for a moon base was formulated in the 70s…50 years later and trillions of wasted money, and we are not one step closer to achieving this goal. They even did a TV show based on that idea, Space:1999.

    Michael Clarke responded partly with:

“I agree that the light that I see is coming from collisions, however the attenuation is not linear, the beam does not get weaker as I observe it, it stops abruptly”

No, attenuation/extinction/scattering is not linear, it is exponential. It only appear to stop “abruptly” but if you were to plot the beam brightness on a log scale and using a measurement device more sensitive than your eye then you would see a linear slope line of beam brightness with distance from the source. It only appears abrupt to the eye. In log scale space it is linear.

The eye is the other factor here. The eye is auto-adjusting itself constantly, changing its aperture, at night time typically this means going for as full of aperture as possible. So it will pick up the brightest things such as the beam nearest the surface, and although there is still light traveling out above where it appears to abruptly cut off, there is of course still light there, it is simply that you’re eye and brain can’t detect it. The brightness of the beam near the surface “helps” the beam to wash out into the background at altitude…as far as your eye can tell.

    So:
    1) Attenuation/extinction/scattering is exponential (this is real astronomy here…a huge concern for us…as we need to know all about how light is being extincted/scattered/attenuated/etc. when it passes through various mediums to our telescopes…the mediums being interstellar dust and gas, zodiacal dust, nebular dust and gas, stellar gas and metals, etc etc etc). On a log scale extinction makes a straight line with a slope.

    2) The eye (sensitivity) is linear. It is also variable aperture. A linear detector measuring an exponential source will manifest an “abrupt” cut off at the sensitivity level of the detector.

“..they consist in large part of bored, well-off people who seek a cause to give meaning to their lives.
But they are also actively recruiting from the younger generation. It is no surprise that Cambridge University was once again the site of XR protests and defacements this week. On our campuses, as in our schools, children are taught that they are likely to die before they grow up. Telling children such things would ordinarily constitute child abuse. But the children’s crusade, led by Greta Thunberg, has terrorised a new generation.
What we are facing here are fanatics: members of an apocalyptic, end-times cult. A cult dedicated to immiserating our society and intimidating anybody who stands in their way. It is high time that they were stopped. It is time that the police move in to arrest them and disrupt their activities. It is time for our politicians and public figures to unite in deprecating their actions. And it is time that we unify again around a core principle: that open debate is the best way to have any difficult question out, and that ceding control to radicals of any stripe is not just where debate stops. It is where a free society ends.”

287730 total deaths in Canada for all 2019. That’s 788 deaths of all kinds per day on average. As of now (Worldometer) we have 5 Corona deaths per day (7 day avg). And we still have to wear a f***kn mask ? They can all go to hell. Live free or die trying ! I’m 72 years old. I’m so mad I dont care anymore.

  20. Pierre D. Bernier says:

It’s not that it’s just a mask. It’s that you can’t talk about it intelligently. My wife has 2 children. With their spouses thats 4 people each with a BSc of some sort. We can’t talk about it. They are too scared. Completely irrational. I try to rationalize with them, tell them that it’s just like the Flu and present numbers to them, nothing will do. I had more intelligent discussions about it with my 4th door neighbour, an early 40 years old ciment truck driver. My wife with her shoe repair man and her hair dresser. It’s completely crazy. It’s irrational.

  21. CD Marshall says:

So a question way beyond my current level of understanding. CoE Law, does internal geothermal flux effect the CoE Law from solar saturation? Can the planet hold only so much energy or is this the confusion created by modern climate science to mask how real physics dictates energy?

In my level of understanding, two heat sources don’t create a second higher heat source, so geothermal contribution would be minimal except in isolated circumstances, such as magma or volcanic activity would clearly be warmer than the solar irradiance in that immediate area.

It could however, serve as a default template to how low a temperature can go in certain areas, or at least at certain depth.

Despite Cotton and others I do not believe geothermal plays a larger part than the Sun its contribution is minimal except in isolated events, other than deep ocean.

As I learn “some” physics it is normal for the human mind to “see” in terms of linear events which is what sets the mind of a physicist above others, they do not see or tend to see linear.

Physicists have to see the “entire” climate physics (or anything else) at the same time as fluid interactions, not isolated events and you have to separate cause and effect. Thermal energy is the cause of our climate, the effect is how that functions in the system.

For instance in an astrophysics example, asteroids travel into our system, that is the effect, but few in climate science ever asks or wonders what “caused” that asteroids to travel in the firs place.

  22. Pablo says:

    Pierre,
    You are not alone.
I have become a pariah within my own family for questioning the alarmist narrative for both corona and CO2. It seems to be the “educated” middle class that have fallen for this distortion of logic and reason, and their cohorts simply follow what they are fed.
The political manifestation of this bizarre state of affairs in the west is being revealed right now.
For my grand children’s sake I hope the majority wake up soon.

  23. Pablo says:

    CD,
‘Radiation from the atmosphere to the surface is an internal transfer of energy. It does not “heat” or cool our climate system {surface+atmosphere+oceans}.”

  24. “Lawrence Auster noted this some years ago, that the tactic of the left was not to erase or replace institutions directly, but rather to make them into inversions, or even obscene parodies, of what they were intended to be.”

  25. CD Marshall says:

    @Pablo
Isn’t that what I just said? I said thermal energy, not thermal heat.

  26. Saying that … “it’s just a mask” is sort of like saying “whatever” — which is a mechanism to shut down any further discussion.

    It’s just a brain implant.

    It’s just gunshot wound.

    It’s just a civilization-destroying asteroid strike.

See, you can take any level of severity and reduce it to insignificance by saying, “It’s just a … ”

“It’s just a” … is an irrational statement.

“All told, Connolley created or rewrote 5,428 unique Wikipedia articles. His control over Wikipedia was greater still, however, through the role he obtained at Wikipedia as a website administrator, which allowed him to act with virtual impunity. When Connolley didn’t like the subject of a certain article, he removed it — more than 500 articles of various descriptions disappeared at his hand. When he disapproved of the arguments that others were making, he often had them barred — over 2,000 Wikipedia contributors who ran afoul of him found themselves blocked from making further contributions. Acolytes whose writing conformed to Connolley’s global warming views, in contrast, were rewarded with Wikipedia’s blessings. In these ways, Connolley turned Wikipedia into the missionary wing of the global warming movement.“

“Beyond that, why do you assume that the human body even cares what the level of CO2 is?”

Exactly so… I’m not at my home computers right now so I don’t have the data handy, but I’ve done calculations showing at what level humans are affected by high CO2 concentration… we can live without effect even at atmospheric CO2 concentrations which are physically unattainable were we to burn every lump of coal, every drop of oil, every tree, every burnable thing on the planet. Atmospheric CO2 concentration has never been high enough to adversely affect human health throughout the known history of the planet, and never will be.

One can do the calculations oneself, if one were sufficiently motivated… of course, Jack Dale et. al. are only motivated to bleat about Chicken Little scenarios as justification for their angst and anger, not to actually come to any understanding of reality.

CO2 is a necessary component of life, not a ‘pollutant’… too little of it and photosynthesis ends, ending all plant and animal life as the food chain dies off. What other ‘pollutant’ do you know of that is required for life to even exist, but just a tiny bit more of it is going to purportedly end all life?

By their metric, we could assign the tag of “pollutant” to any other gas, such as oxygen… necessary for life, but I’m sure the libtard idiots will somehow claim in the not-too-distant future that ‘excess O2 is causing forest fires to burn more extensively’ and ‘contributes to excess cancer deaths since O2 is an oxidant that can damage DNA’, or some such idiocy… then they’ll attempt to create a ‘cap and trade’ market for O2 producers and consumers, and hatch grand schemes to pull O2 from the air and sequester it in rock formations.

We need to reopen the sanitariums. We’ve let the crazies run free in the streets for far too long.

    Boomie,
CO2 levels in an average home are higher than the atmospheric amount. Humans create CO2, every home is a CO2 hot spot (obviously).

From the USDA: 10,000 ppm is safe, may cause drowsiness.
40,000 ppm immediate danger to life.

I could be wrong but if we burned ALL fossil fuels the number is around 12K still nowhere near the danger zone and the oceans have around 20k locked up.

The only risk to life on a CO2 based climate is world wide volcanic activity and at that point I’d say we’d have more concerns than CO2.

We are told that water vapour is a greenhouse gas for the same reasons as CO2, i.e. it can absorb and re-emit infra red radiation. We can’t arbitrarily vary CO2 levels, but absolute humidity can be anything between zero and thirty-thousand mg/l (cold, dry days v warm, humid days). So the amount by which temperatures fall after dusk should be inversely proportional to absolute humidity (i.e. the insulating ‘greenhouse effect’ should be proportional to absolute humidity).

I made a science buddy on YT he has friends in good places. Anyway he sent me this…I’m recording it here just in case…

Below, please find the original NPAS journal entry Dated March 14, 2016. On page 7, second paragraph from the top you will read the University of North Carolina, in their own words, state that they completed the creation of a synthetic SARS virus with the assistance of the Wuhan Institute of Virology:

    NPAS paper: March 14, 2016
    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4801244/

Please print out or otherwise safe copies of this before it is deleted from online access.

Further, following the time line forward from March of 2016, in 2017 world wide sales of “COVID-19 Test Kits” was recorded. (This obviously being 2 full years before COVID-19 was “discovered”.
—Please note the original link to the records has been altered by persons unknown in the last week, and now reads “medical test kits”. The link below has been archived as it once originally read:

COVID-19 year kit sales records for 2017 (archived original):
    https://web.archive.org/web/20200905090959if_/https://wits.worldbank.org/trade/comtrade/en/country/ALL/year/2017/tradeflow/Exports/partner/WLD/nomen/h5/product/382200

Please print or otherwise save copies of this for your records, as this too may be removed when found.

Regardless of what these test kits contain, it is illogical that they were named COVID-19 test kits 2 years prior to the supposed discovery of the novel Corona Virus; therefore, one must logically conclude that the synthetic virus received the name “COVID-19” not for the year it was “discovered” but rather for year intended for its release.

Please see that you circulate this information to as many people as possible, as soon as possible. We must stop the agenda now.

  56. CD Marshall says:

“Note that the Second Law requires that the emissivity of any body must equal its absorptivity.”
Is this fundamentally correct? Is this just a different wording for the COE Law?

    Second Law: Entropy
Second Law of Thermodynamics: In any cyclic process the entropy will either increase or remain the same.

However it also states, It is impossible to extract an amount of heat QH from a hot reservoir and use it all to do work W. Some amount of heat QC must be exhausted to a cold reservoir.

So this is the difference between heat ans energy. So in Climate Clown science they justify Entropy as automatically equating that to heat not the distinction of energy and the requirements to increase temperature.

If all energy stacked to thermal heat I doubt this planet would support life. Everything that uses energy down to the cell phone would increase the temperature of the planet. Looking at it that way it sounds blatantly absurd.

    Miami, FL, 7, 6
    New York, NY, 7, 8
    Seatle,WA, 7, 11
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 6, 6

All the desert cities with no water of significance around them have big daily temperature differences. All those cities with big water surroundings have small daily temperature differences. Water slows things down when heating up in day time and slows down cooling during night.

Since it warmed in the 1920s I’d go with ocean cycles as the largest cause, geothermal as the second, which can also create an ocean change in temperature. The polar vortex remained strong in the Northern Hemisphere during the month of January 2020.

For the next 20-30 years we will be in the meridional flow of weather patterns, ” A meridional pattern, which its highly curved flow, generates more vorticity than that associated with a zonal flow. Forecasting becomes more challenging when the jet stream has a meridional pattern…” -Meteorologist Jeff Haby.

  62. CD Marshall says:

PM2 this is the official NOAA definition:
    Meridional Flow:
Large-scale atmospheric flow in which the north-south component (i.e., longitudinal, or along a meridian) is pronounced. The accompanying zonal (east-west) component often is weaker than normal. Compare with zonal flow.”

    Zonal Flow:
Large-scale atmospheric flow in which the east-west component (i.e., latitudinal) is dominant. The accompanying meridional (north-south) component often is weaker than normal. Compare with meridional flow.

Without GHGs the Earth would be heated from 120 Celsius downwards. Without GHGs the Troposphere would hold most of its heat achieved via conduction/convection/advection. ALL Ramen active molecules would still absorb radiation.

On an arid planet, particles would be like clouds in the atmosphere and dust storms would be rampant.

I would imagine higher elevations would be the most coveted regions (cooler) on the planet or anywhere wind is less or broken and atmopsheric particles were decreased.

    -Boomie

    -Thermodynamicist1215

“The solar constant is not the radiative flux entering Earth as he used it in his equation. I think it was the second diagram you posted. It actually represents the radiative flux located at the location of earths orbit. I.e. the flux at one astronomical unit from the sun. This is because the radiation emitted from the sun is diffuse and spreads out in a sphere as it radiates outward. The solar constant is the flux per unit area on the surface of this sphere, at the earths location. You can verify this by checking how the solar constant was calculated. Irradiance, I is power over area. Power is the energy flux emitted by the sun 3.95×1026 W and for Area, earths average distance 1.5×1011 m is used. These two values give a value of ~ 1360 W/m2 for the solar constant. The amount entering the top of earths atmosphere is ~340 W/m2 on average. Of course it varies depending on your location. I am not an astrophysicist myself, I am an environmental engineer who focuses on energetics in nature, but I would wholly expect someone with a masters in astrophysics to understand this.”

    :the average near-surface atmospheric pressure,

    the average near-surface atmospheric density

and the mean molar mass of the near surface atmosphere

    -u/shaunw666

“yes aware of that, and it’s in fact my point – keep atmospheric pressure ie sea level, and only change atmosphere density and molar mass to 100% of co2 values – and how much does the temp increase?

approximately 2C increase. i gave you the calculator above. So if we were totally remove all our air and replace it with 100% co2, we’d see a runaway greenhouse effect of ~2C

    please go and check.

And this is not taking into account CO2’s radiative effects – it would be freezing on the earths surface if you take that into account.”

So, in 2020, if the trend is kept, we should be at about 9000 cases of deaths by pneumonia/influenza. But wait a minute ! We already have 9000 cases of pneumonia/Covid deaths. Shouldn’t we have 18000 total deaths if all Covid deaths are only Covid and we still have the usual influenza virus ? Since the influenza has probably not disappeared and we have only 9000 pure Covid deaths, logically, would most of the Covid deaths also be influenza deaths ? Hum… I think I’ll go for the later… Most of the deaths are a combination of influenza/Covid and J. Trudy, F. Lego and the MSM are pulling our strings !

  83. CD Marshall says:

What I am learning so far from climate physics study…

The Troposphere is a Carnot cycle, that is why it will never be in thermal equilibrium. A Carnot cycle has two opposing isothermal temperatures, T(cold) and T(hot) as well as two adiabatic lapse rates, wet and dry. This constant imbalance keeps the Troposphere from achieving thermal equilibrium as a whole.

Yes the atmosphere is considered a closed and open system according to climate physics which perhaps is why they are so confused, I don’t know? Closed as in only IR can escape as emissions to space (despite the very light leaking we have of our atmosphere to space) but the atmosphere as a whole is an open system in regards to matter can move freely around it.

Can it get more confusing? Why yes it can. Atmospheric physics also considers each parcel of air a system, and as such individually can be considered open, partial, or closed (and at certain points even considered an isolated system). A closed system is always composed of the same point masses. For example, a large cumulonimbus cloud may be considered as a closed system but a small cumulus is not. More factors (an endless amount) are integrated into this concept.

    -Undergrad atmopsheric thermodynamics.

  84. No one ever mentions the basic rotation of the Earth. This causes turbulence and mixing and both horizontal and vertical flows of air, etc. It should be considered a baseline energy source…wonder how much it compares.

If you take the rotational velocity of the surface, and plug that into Maxwell’s Equation for atmosphere gas, what temperature is it?

  85. Equatorial rotation speed of earth is 463 m/s. If this is imparted to the gas via friction, then what’s the temperature of the gas? What’s the equivalent energy input?

  86. From https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maxwell%E2%80%93Boltzmann_distribution

Use the vp equation with the vp as the above comment, the other values as per the atmosphere gas, and solve for T.

    Would someone do it?

    Look at * PART 2 OF 3 * and * PART 3 OF 3 * like really mad B movie sequels.

“This 91.5% of the LWR is the part that gets reduced by increased tropospheric GHGs and causes an energy imbalance with insufficient energy going out, which causes global warming, ocean heating and ice fusion, which causes climate change…”

“LWR produced in the troposphere that reaches the lower surface will warm that surface so it stays in Earth’s ecosphere but LWR produced in the troposphere that reaches the upper surface has a good chance to make it through the increasingly-thin tropopause, stratosphere and the ultra-thin extended atmosphere to space and be energy lost to Earth’s ecosphere, thus cooling it. LWR reaching the upper/lower surfaces was produced by GHG molecules, the surfaces of water droplets and the surfaces of solid particles (sea salt, ash, dust) throughout the troposphere sending photons upwards/downwards as described in detail earlier. ”

“tropospheric GHGs are increased then 2 changes occur per my explanations above since the start of my comment:
    1) More LWR than before is produced by the GHGs, and
    2) More LWR than before is absorbed by the GHGs because the LWR photons have to make it through more GHG molecules that might absorb them before they can reach their goal of going up past the top of the troposphere or going down past the bottom of the troposphere and being absorbed into the ocean or land.”

The reference will say that everything gets absorbed, which they construe into meaning it supports their claim that radiative transfer operates differently.

Absorbed is not the same as raising it’s frequency. You could say the hotter object absorbed the colder objects radiation. That does not mean the colder object raised the hotter objects temperature.

JFC they think microwaves support their argument some how. Microwaves have a short wave length you freaking idiots!

What an uphill battle this is.

  105. CD Marshall says:

Engineers and techs are the market for dumb trolls and I didn’t know why for the longest time. As with science, you have two types, open minded brilliant ones and text book automatons. How did I figure that out?

My phone line was cut to my house. I inquired, a phone guy finally came out to to the house and said my line was cut.

“Who would do that?” I asked.
“our guys they put up new line and considered everything else obsolete. If it wasn’t on their blue print, it didn’t exist.”

Well climate clowns made a blue print and that’s all some need, never proving if the wire really needed to be cut.

  106. CD Marshall says:

Joseph have you ever heard of this guy? He claims to be a physicist? Barton Paul Levenson.

Anyway, I sent him this after reading some of his claims:
“All energy distribution does not equate an increase in temperature even if radiation was being re-absorbed back to the surface. This is a climate change trick not supported by the standard Laws of Thermodynamics, but more importantly the Bose-Einstein Statistic, where it is obvious unlike fermions, low level bosons can stack without an increase in temperature, for bosons, in this case photons, are frequency/wavelength dependent.

Any line spectrum (a quantized discrete package) only carries transferable energy according to its frequency/wavelength.

    Photon Energy=Delta E =hf
    E=Energy of the photon
    h=Plank’s constant (6.63×10^(-)34 J*s)
    f=frequency (^14 Hz)=6.63×10(-)20 J

That energy must be greater than the radiative emissions of the frequency/wavelength of the object receiving it to increase the temperature.

That means no warming to the surface from ghgs at an effective temperate of 15C. In fact, 15 micron could not warm up an ice cube.

Wasn’t so hard was it? ”

Pretty simple and direct, grade school stuff for a physicist. This was his reply,

“Word salad with an irrelevant equation thrown in. You’re obviously not familiar with how radiative transfer in atmospheres works. Crack a book. Learning is your friend.”

    Makes me question his validity.

  107. You see how it works? Sophistry. You said something entirely calm and reasonable. Well…I guess except for the last sentence lol. But see it just immediately devolves. There is no conversation to be had.

This is why I’ve just reduced it all to the origin. The origin and generating principle of all of their claims is the Sun not being able to heat the Earth. And that error ensues from flat earth theory turned into physics. You can simply dismiss all of their claims and ridicule them mercilessly, endlessly, and creatively, by point out their ownership of flat earth theory and misapplication of averages, etc.

One of the rules for radicals sophistry is to make the opponent have to hold to standard which are impossible. So turn it around – make them hold to the standard they themselves established, and ridicule their inconsistency when they try to run from it or pretend it isn’t what it is.

  108. CD Marshall says:

How would you calculate the weight of CO2 in the total atmosphere? How do you figure the whole atmosphere?

  109. CD Marshall says:

Is molecular weight the exact same in each layer of the atmosphere or does it slightly change with elevation?

  110. CD Marshall says:

I think I got this calculation from Pierre…
    The molar mass of CO2 is 12.01 g/mol + 2 * 16 g/mol = 44.01 g/mol
    At S.T.P, one mol of CO2 occupies 22.4 L = 22400 cm3
    The density of CO2 at S.T.P is = 44.01 g / 22400 cm3 = 0.001965 g/cm3
    Or 1.965 kg/m3

I just googled. I have no inside knowledge. I have a friend in the Navy but he is just an enlisted man.

  116. CD Marshall says:

I think he said “I DON’T think science knows actually”. As in nothing is really settled.

Scientist have different theories. Some of them equally valid, atm anyway. Science is not just “the one thing”. If you know what I mean.

  121. CD Marshall says:

Yeah you’re right, had to play it SUPER LOUD to hear it, but he did say I think science doesn’t know.

  122. CD Marshall says:

This guy claims to be an able climate and astrophysics grad.

“For example, if you are using your blackbody radiation equations to calculate the temperature of the Earth from the Suns measured flux it should be an average of -20C. Buuuuuuut its not, because of the atmosphere trapping radiation.”

…and I’m sure he graduated with honors (head slap).

  123. Good God. Of course he means -18C…not a big deal…but he doesn’t understand that that’s what earths temperature actually is in measured flux.

  124. CD Marshall says:

But you see as my crude example, they are educating people who can read a blue print, or in this case climate models, but they never question what’s being put in them. I was surprised the Connelies believed the atmosphere was in thermal equilibrium. Isn’t that conservation of energy being confused for the classic radiative forcing?

Really weird, since atmopsheric thermodynamics (at least the one I read) said clearly it was a Carnot cycle which was an undergrad Cambridge class (of all things).

    Reversible isothermal expansion/compression
    Reversible adiabatic expansion/compression

which as we all know is the Carnot cycle process,

  125. CD Marshall says:

Would you debate that Simon guy if he wanted? I doubt he would, the guy loves the fame and accolades he gets from kissing the climate ring.

Have you ever considered pursuing a PhD in astrophysics, or is the financial thing that has been holding you back?

Personally you should have been able to get that a long time ago, so what’s holding you back? If that’s none of my business, fair enough.

  126. I mean certainly the bottom of the atmosphere is nowhere near thermal equilibrium given that the temperature is constantly changing. Not clear what they meant by that.

  127. CD Marshall says:

I’ll find it for you… They deserve the benefit of a pro’s opinion anyway.

  128. Which Simon guy? For sure I would debate anybody though.

When I was working on the hardware development for the space telescope I work on, it was suggested that I could do a PhD with that work…that work began when I completed my masters so it would have been natural. However I was sick of classes though, and didn’t want to sit through more mind-numbing course work, etc. I should have done it though and made it work. I’ve done the work to satisfy a PhD a few times over now.

  129. CD Marshall says:

Exactly. Plus you get better pay (typically). Because you have done all the hard work, you should get credit for it. It reminds me of geologists, many have done the work time and time again to get a PhD but they won’t waste the time in class to make it official. They love the field and just can’t force themselves to give the up for a classroom. Ironically, some of the most brilliant geologists aren’t PhDs. Such a screwed up academia process we have.

“Radiative equilibrium is the specific case of thermal equilibrium, for the case in which the exchange of heat is done by radiative heat transfer.”
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiative_equilibrium

Which for Earth (as I understand so far) is at minus 60ºC at the tropopause, from which a downward calculation of radiative transfer within a water vapour filled atmosphere should theoretically result in a surface temperature of plus 60ºC instead of the convectively cooled reality of 15ºC mostly by evaporation and its accompanying latent heat.

The minus 18ºC is the average surface temp. for Earth without an atmosphere and is in reality found at around 5km Alt.

  133. CD Marshall says:

I just did the mid Trop averages again. My average came out to around 253.85 Kelvin with a 2 day sample, the effective blackbody is around 254 Kelvin presently.

  134. CD Marshall says:

Joseph this astrophysics/climate guy I was talking to is a little more reasonable than I had first assumed, he was just kicked off by another guy he was arguing with. However, that usually changes when I mention your name, the Scourge of Climate Change lol. So many won’t bother to read your stuff and seriously think it over, instead they follow the climate change mandate of approved and unapproved scientists according to their peer consensus which naturally must agree with them.

“Without being so crass as to post pics of educational certs etc, you can only judge people here by what they say or claim. You, for example, I would guess do actually know what you are talking about by the references you use and the way you use them. You made no outrageous claims and formed a good argument (albeit some of it wasn’t quite correct), and because of that I hope I have provided you with some food for thought and some interesting further reading.

The idiot I was arguing with on the other hand is exactly the opposite and didnt really say anything coherent or worthwhile. Except to try to promote his unsubstantiated bs with literally nothing to back it up

As to the point I referenced above, blackbody radiation directly implies total surface solar irradiation (of a blackbody) derived from solar output ”

Joseph maybe you should do a King in Plain Clothes, and talk to these guys as a John Doe on YT.
You might be able to break through the NPC defense mechanisms that way.

You know if you had that kind of time.

Now he went on to say,
“Now that I have a little more time to think I do seem to remember something about what you said about mid-troposphere temperatures. Something in a similar to the way that the “surface” of the sun is calculated as where light of a specific wavelength is radiated.

Because of the different densities and refractive indices of gases, most (if not all) of the CO2 is in the troposphere phasing in to molecular oxygen/nitrogen at the strato/meso sphere and then atomic oxygen/nitrogen at the thermo/exo sphere. If I remember correctly (and I am not sure if I do) the altitude is to do with the proportion of reflected infrared energy, and, as the levels of CO2 increase with time that altitude and the effective “surface” increases in altitude. I will have to dig my notes out and look, but I am hoping you can shed more light (lol) on that so I dont need to.”

  135. Ask him to come have a live chat with me. Will be happy to set it up.

  136. CD Marshall says:

I just realized why so many of these academic PhDs are so arrogant. They have placed themselves in a position where an entire class must agree with them to pass the course and now believe that means they are always right.

I had a few teachers like that in school caused me to get a lot of detentions.
“I’m the teacher you’re the student you don’t have anything to teach me or any right to question me.”

    Which naturally, I disagreed with.

  137. CD Marshall says:

“Ask him to come have a live chat with me. Will be happy to set it up.”

Live chat here? On your YT site or actually communicating to each other outside the open public medium?

  138. CD Marshall says:

@Pablo Thanks Pablo that actually helped. Who decided to make over a thousand variations of radiation rules? For Gad’s sake.

  139. Public chat. Either live, or recorded and then uploaded, etc. Whatever.

  140. CD Marshall says:

Just to be clear this isn’t Simon, he’s another guy.

Check him out here…I’ve been a little peeved lately on YT just talking to the most stupid NPC idiots I admit I was a little Postma at the start of this conversation :). Some of these people are literally IQ Vampires.

Boomie’s NPC meme is spot on.

You can find his chat here under Gypsy Path 41+comments he’s Gary Hendrick

    .youtube.com/watch?v=M-525pDGTDY&lc=Ugwra3NIeFTtwSfYKc14AaABAg.9Db4f7ZMy5b9DqGXHmUf5X

It’s the Trump video Boomie linked.

  141. CD Marshall says:

So what do you think about knocking out a Venus post? Or even a Venus-Earth-Mars example. A video would be great but a post would be great as well.

If you ever fell like it.

  142. Someone want to message that “Skeptic Journal” freak and ask them to say who they actually are and invite them for a live debate with me?

    1) They will not reveal who they actually are, hence, they’re untrustworthy
    2) They will ridicule the idea of having a debate

But go ahead and see what happens.

  143. boomie789 says:

“I am sending you a message on behalf of Joseph E Postma and his followers. You have tried to discredit and smear his work and we would like an opportunity to show transparency. We offer a chance to have public debate.

Let me know if you are interested.

    Thank you”

I haven’t sent it yet. This look good?
