Climate of Sophistry 
A little of O.P but relevant. Stay with me. First I need to explain my understanding of energy transfer via the “photon” / electromagnetic field.
I really struggle with term photon where it is used as a real tangible item. For me the photon is nothing but a concept to quantify an exchange of energy. The photon does not store the energy but is term used to explain the phenomenon of that transfer of energy.
The energy is provided from the electromagnetic field that is set up by the charged moving particle.
Once a molecule’s electron passes through that electromagnetic field it may well decide to accept that energy and get excited to a higher level. This energy exchange comes from the stored energy in the electromagnetic field from the charged moving particle.
And conversely the now the excited molecule is considered to be a charged particle and thus it is emitting it’s own electromagnetic field and the process cycles again.
There certainly is not net gain of energy. Although work is expended in setting up the electromagnetic field.
So I have no idea what my rant supports. But it is my rant. The photon annoys the sheet out of me. Perhaps the term photon is used to explain an event that has occurred.
The only paper I found on thin mid-level clouds over the tropics. TMLCs are in reduction, this changes tropical albedo, which increases ocean warming. The paper however cannot explain “why” it is occurring. At least I didn’t see one.

Thermodynamics:
In order to heat a system, you need work or higher energy occupying more quanta at lower wavelengths in greater order than the radiating body. Occupying higher wavelengths with more energy will not change the temperature in a system.
Or perhaps “will not increase the temperature in a system.” is better.
