    I think you did very well, you caught yourself and deescalated. Perfectly understandable since the ones you mostly deal with are smart enough/educated enough to know they aren’t telling the truth.

    Learning public speaking is important to winning minds over and yes, a bit demeaning for a physicist, but necessary. Most of the population will never understand you, “full on physicist” myself included.

    It is easier to teach someone right who has never been taught wrong than it is to teach someone who has been wrong or even convince them they are wrong.

    Public opinion is fickle and can change like the wind. Patience is crucial, like speaking to your daughter but not sounding condescending. Most of the world is ignorant on real physics these days and you have to treat them like a child mind.

    Trolls are dishonest or zealots and either way, a waste of time. However, dealing the right way with a troll may persuade an honest person who is still asking the right questions.

    I try and not go on the offensive first unless they have already displayed the aggressive behavior.

    I admit its hard, the constant lies and vile spirits of these trolls and the seeming endless algorithm of obfuscation is enough to wear down the most brilliant mind. Everyone needs a reset, or a safe place for the mind to go to find balance and sustain emotion under logic.

    If you are not smart enough to ask the question, “why?” odds are you won’t ever learn the answer to, “why not”.

    Aggravatingly amazing idiots.

    One of the things I stated: a simple energy budget is incomplete in terms of physics, because it treats all energy as heat. Secondly, it’s not even a model of anything that actually physically exists anyway – there is no energy balance at the surface ever given that surface temperature is continuously changing, and this is why one needs to go to heat flows and physical processes being driven in real time.

    Convenient for him to just ignore the model I posted in that convo.

    The only scenario that the simple energy budget works is for outside the system, for getting the radiation temperature of the earth. Because in this case it’s just conservation of energy and heat flow CAN be ignored, because all of the input from the sun is heat. So reference to heat is dispensed with because all the input IS heat because its shortwave from the sun. And all flow is downstream in the radiative temperature analysis.

    But then going inside the system, you really do need to reference heat flows explicitly and what directions are involved, because now there are more elements.

    The subtleties here are not that incomprehensible! But it certainly doesn’t help when these people have literally never seen a heat flow equation!!!!!! Lol

    Also, C02 would be an ineffective thread. It’s ability to transfer infrared, being a good absorber/emitter, would take heat away from the surface faster, not hold it in.

    I was reading some guff about solar panels and a guy gushing about ”new ones” being 20% efficienrt and the panels getting a flux of about a 1000 jules a second and conversion rates etc watts of course. average for 12 hours a day…

    I’m amazed how ok everyone is with wearing mask. Really blackpilling. I’ve been walking into stores without it no problem. Nobody said anything to me yet. Only when I went to the eye doctor and dentist. Even then I went to the dentist twice, didn’t wear it the first time. The second time there was an elderly woman in the lobby so I went ahead and wore it.

    Why is it okay to touch gas nozzles when refueling your car? When I went to the dentist I had to press a button to buzz the receptionist. Nobody was cleaning the button. The old lady touched the button not 1min after me. The credit card readers at gas stations. door handles. Shouldn’t we be wearing gloves just as much as the mask? Why aren’t those required when entering a business?

    O you put up a little 2×2 plastic window up by the cashier? I’m sure that will help. /s

    Just venting. Sometimes I wish this this virus was what they claimed it would be. Maybe we are in desperate need of a culling. But, I don’t really mean that. Seeing all those mask pisses me off.     A legit physics question for anyone.

    It is claimed that 15 micron is equal to a black body radiating at -80C.

    I did the math for Wien’s Law and got 79.97C.

    So nothing on Earth emits at a peak emission of -80C.

    We know a full spectrum emits larger than the peak wavelength, although I can’t find the statistics for that, it does emit in different wavelengths which is the largest difference of a source of radiation and a spectra line.

    Thus it stands to reason since 15 micron is emitting from the surface something is emitting it warmer than -80C and If it is emitting from the whole surface then something is not adding up in emission frequencies.

    What is the range of photons emitting from a radiating source and where is that found? Does some wls exceed the peak wls but not enough to change temperature?

    Or is 15 micron just the residue of energy split so many times it has almost no energy left? Under the COE Law that would stand as a reasonable explanation.

    Energy from the Sun isn’t reversible. Once that energy is broken down it can’t be restored to its original frequency/wavelength and neither does energy emitting from the surface or back from the atmosphere. So in theory, energy can be broken down to infinitesimal portions. At what point does a photon stop splitting or breaking down? Is there a limit under the Bose-Einstein Statistic?

    Just to be clearer for anyone who is going to nitpick (if anyone does), the photon is absorbed and that energy is broken down, if re-emitting that energy it can emit a duplicate under certain conditions, but usually the energy is broken down and emitted as weaker photons the same energy of course, just spread out more.

    Thermal radiation is given by the Planck Law and occurs over a spectrum…a range of wavelengths. A warmer spectrum has higher frequencies that a cooler spectrum does not, and also has a greater intensity of emission over all wavelengths that a cooler spectrum has.

    So been studying Atmospheric Physics, and yet ANOTHER version of the “Runaway Greenhouse Effect” cleverly subjugated with science-like language:

    TWO WAYS TO SATURATE AIR:
    1. Increase (inject more) water vapor to the air.
    2. Reduce the temperature of the air.

    If the planet has a very high temperature that the air can never reach a saturation point it creates a Runaway Greenhosue Effect:

    A. Water vapor can be added to the atmosphere.
    B .More water vapor traps more heat (the greenhouse effect).
    C. The planet’s temperature increases furthermore.
    D. More greenhouse effect.
    E. More water vapor

    You know the crazy thing is it actually taught heat and energy with a subtle slip into fake science. The laws of thermodynamics are sloppy explained. So subtle how that they slip that in:

    Heat and Energy:

    Energy is the capacity to do work.

    Heat is one form of energy.

    Heat is one form of internal energy {This is the switch from real science to fake science} which is associated with the random, disordered motion of molecules and atoms.

    Internal kinetic/potential energy are different from the macroscopic kinetic/potential energy.

    The 1st LOT

    This law states that heat is a form of energy is such that total energy is conserved.
    Delta U = Q – W

    {Then the go back to stating heat needs to be added again.}

    Heat and temperature are both related to the internal kinetic energy of air molecules, and therefore can be related to each other in the following way:

    Q(heat added) = c (specific heat) * m (Mass) * Delta T (temperature change).

    Water Vapor:
    It basically states heat is transferred from the Earth’s surface by water vapor. Without the evaporation process the global surface temperature would be 67C instead of 15C. The evaporation of 1m of water causes Earth’s surface to lose 83 W/m^2. {insert radiative forcing here}

    2-“increases the emissivity of the atmosphere, because the entire point of so-called “greenhouse gases” is that they emit. The atmosphere is 99% nitrogen and oxygen which do not emit thermal radiation…so 99% of the atmosphere has very low emissive power, i.e., low emissivity.     What you describe as insulation with a sweater, the mechanism involved there, is the retardation of convection. The warmth of your skin, relative to the cooler air, generates tiny little eddies that wick heat away from your skin. The same thing happens to the surface of the Earth itself. Real greenhouses, and sweaters, STOP convection – they stop the air from circulating and from wicking the heat away either from the surface (greenhouse) or your skin (sweater). You heat up the sweater to closer to your skin temperature than the air is, and then you feel warmer. The sweater can be heated up by your body because it is a small mass, whereas you can’t warm up the open air because it is effectively an infinite sink/mass compared to the heat that you put out.

    Incoming solar radiation is capable of heating the surface to scalding temperatures. This induces air circulation because as the air, in contact with the surface, is heated by conduction/diffusion/convection/radiation from the surface, and warm air is less dense and so the warm air rises away. Since the warm air rises away, then this keeps the remaining air cooler. Witness the inside of your vehicle with windows closed on a sunny day where the air was stopped from rising away, compared to air just outside the vehicle: the vehicle interior air is much much warmer than the air just outside the vehicle. The inside of your car is the same thing as a real greenhouse: it stopped convection, stopped the air from being able to rise away or be exchanged, and thus the air inside your car or greenhouse rises to the temperature at which it is being heated – which is quite hot, from the sun, easily 120F and more. Raw solar power is actually up tp +121C, or 286F.

    In radiative terms, and these are the terms of the greenhouse effect of climate alarm (the greenhouse effect of climate alarm is not about convection as per how an actual greenhouse functions, but is about radiation), then insulation is called emissivity. The poorer that a surface or object or substance can radiate thermal energy, the lower its so-called emissivity. Thus if a fixed amount of energy must be radiated, then an object with a lower emissivity must attain a higher temperature in order to be able to pump out the necessary energy. Vice versa, a substance with higher emissivity can emit the same amount of radiant thermal energy at a lower temperature.
    The existence of CO2 in the atmosphere:
    1) does not change the ground/physical surface’s emissivity, since the emissivity of a substance is a property of the substance/surface itself, not a property of something else nearby or touching the object. CO2 in the atmosphere does not change the emissivity of the physical surface, hence does not alter the radiative ability of the surface, hence cannot change the temperature of the surface this way.

    (The (2) above goes here.)

    The point is that the entire scheme and premise of the climate alarmist radiative greenhouse effect contradicts basic physics theory, notwithstanding, and perhaps as a result of, it being based on false modeling premises in the first place.

    Lastly, the scheme of the radiative greenhouse should actually then also explain how a real greenhouse functions, and it should predict the temperature inside a greenhouse. However, the temperatures predicted by the climate alarmist radiative greenhouse mechanics are not observed inside a real greenhouse, and the only temperatures measured inside a real greenhouse are those expected from the stoppage of convection only…there is no additional effect from “radiation insulation”. So this is empirical proof to go along with the existing theory which demonstrates that the climate alarmist radiative greenhouse effect does not exist or function.

    Thermodynamics took hundreds of years to solve for a reason. It is still one of the most difficult fields…really. A comment from my favorite thermodynamics textbook (Schroeder, 2000):

    As I discussed in that debate…the main issue here is the interpretation of that downward arrow in that Figure 2.3. In climate alarm physics that arrow is interpreted as a temperature-increasing function, as a temperature-increasing mechanism. One must ask: what is the mechanism, in physics, that could perform this function? Well, we refer to the first law of thermodynamics: to increase a body’s temperature, you require work and/or heat. The scenario isn’t about work being done here, and so, the only possibility of that downward arrow to act as a temperature-increasing mechanism is if that downward arrow is heat. That downward arrow has to be heat.

    However, we then must refer to the known definitions and mathematical expressions for heat – well, heat is not something that can flow from the colder atmosphere to the warmer surface. And so that downward arrow cannot be interpreted as heat. Thus there’s no way that that downward arrow could serve to increase the temperature of the warmer surface.

    We should then consider that the only reason why that downward arrow is interpreted as heat by climate alarm, is because they treat the solar input as equal to the terrestrial output, at -18C or 255K. They begin their model of the climate under the premise that the sun cannot heat the Earth to above -18C…that the Sun cannot and does not create the climate or temperatures above -18C! So under that premise, they then desire to interpret that downward arrow as being able to heat the surface further even though heat could never flow in that direction.

    And YES, in their peer-reviewed literature, they do indeed state and believe that the atmosphere must heat the Earth at TWICE the power and ability of the Sun. And YES, indeed, they do literally believe that the Sun DOES NOT heat the Earth or create Earth’s climate.

    1 Radiative forcing occurs as per the radiative heat flow equation. From hot to cold. That’s the only radiative forcing that can exist. Thus the atmosphere cannot force the surface to higher temperature. 2 If GHGs are emissive then they cool. The rest of the atmosphere holds thermal energy very efficiently because it can’t emit.

    Did he get in contact with you, yet? He’s going to be some work. Not sure what his “credential” are though. I hope its not another, if you don’t know what this means why are you telling me about radiation, type of deal.

    He’s a methane head by the looks of it, one of those thinking CH4 is going to destroy the world, even though the real residency of CH4 is only estimated 1-4 years. It does however, get broken down and CO2 is a by product of that process. This is Pierre’s field though, wherever he might be.

    I’m not explaining this clear enough and I fear it will cause confusion.

    “Magnetic dipole molecules absorb and re-radiate IR where as a none-magnetic dipole molecule, once heated, can emit IR it cannot not however, {re-radiate that energy}.

    Therefore, once heated it must either cool off naturally back into a relaxed state or have that energy transferred to other molecules by way of collision or bumping.

    An atmospheric heated none magnetic molecular gas can only cool off via the lapse rate by cooling off naturally, a much slower process, seeing how this form is not {emitting at the speed of light.}”

    Should I use “shed off” in place of re-radiate when referring to magnetic dipole molecules. The “emit” is throwing me off for I think its setting me up for obfuscation.

    All molecules once heated emit EM energy, but only magnetic dipole molecules have the ability to shed off that energy. However, it is commonly stated that CO2 emits…I just don’t like the word choices, I think it can cause confusion.

    Plus I think that’s the point of the climate consensus anyway it is not a fact that only magnetic dipole molecules can emit IR. Once anything emits IR it is moving at the speed of light and thus would emit in the open window if in that spectrum, irregardless of the heated molecule.

    How would you phrase this for another physicist and how would you phrase it as a simple version?
