Right or Wrong: Thermal radiation’s spectrum is continuous for earthly normal objects like a lite light bulb or a conductor, it is because once you plug every electron in the solid into a giant quantum mechanics equation, I personally call it a “giant fermi pool” while obeying the Pauli exclusion principle, I will end up with many energy levels for trillions of electrons, those levels are going to be quite continuous.
Wrong. Thermal radiation is all about photons. It is obtained, when the modes of electro-magnetic cavity (e.g. vacuum inside a box) are occupied according to Bosonic statistics. The box can be imagined infinite, and one get’s continuum of photon states, and the number of photons in each state is given by the Bose-Einstein distribution. In other words, the electrons and nuclei of the ‘metal’ of the black box plays only a very minor role here. There is some particular light-matter interaction between the matter and the photons in the box. The exact form of this interaction does not matter to the end result. It is just sufficient that there is some interaction. Now, if the electrons and nuclei of the metal have a different temperature, mediated through light-matter interaction, heat will flow to the photon modes of the cavity until the light and the matter are in thermal equlibrium. This is related to the equipartition theorem, which needs to be applied to quantum energy levels of photons in order to avoid the ultraviolet catastrophe.
Right or Wrong: Gas under atm pressure doesn’t emit continuous spectrum, because their atom’s electrons are so far apart, they are not interacting, each atom’s electrons are in their own isolated “fermi pool”. Different atoms can have electrons of the same energy state.
Wrong. As discussed in part 1. the continuous spectrum is all about the photons being in thermal equilibrium. Thermal emission on atoms occurs when the temperature is sufficient large so that an electron can be thermally excited. This excited state of an atom does then couple only to very special modes of the cavity, namely to those which preserve energy and momentum. Therefore, one obtains sharp peak of photon energies when observing emission.
Right or Wrong: A block of insulator will have a discontinuous thermal radiation spectrum at some temperature as its “internal conditions” (like crystal lattice or boundary condition) just won’t allow some energy state to exist.
Wrong again, I’m afraid. It is true that semiconductors and insulators have forbidden single-particle levels, for example so that there is a gap between their photoemission and inverse-photoemission spectra. But the idea is correct, since there actually exists structures which have a photonic-band gap. Similarly to the electrons, given certain geometry of the cavity, photons too can have band gaps. Due to geometry (for example a periodic lattice of metal beads in a transparent substrate) there are forbidden energy-levels for photons. Keywords: opals (yes, the common gems have a band gap in such that particular wave lengths of light cannot propagate in them), photonic crystals.

IR light was scattered…that’s all…the gas column scattered photons to other directions hence making the flame appear dimmer. Heat trapping is a nonsensical term in any case.

I know you say to leave it but that’s not in my DNA. I come from a long lineage of Mennonite pastors lol. Everyone has their price, be it notoriety or $$. Because they’re the gatekeepers, all the more reason to kick it down. To us, it’s clear a flat line isn’t representative of reality but to normies, they have no clue. But you are correct about normies falling asleep over discussions of heat transfer. These discussions get pretty complex. Need to think of a way to make it appealing. One of those ways is to give them a vested interest, what’s in it for them? Negotiations are always predicated on that. My great great grandfather negotiated the pilgrimage from Russia after the Mennonites were being persecuted and slaughtered, and led them to settle in Steinbach Manitoba. We have something in common.

I have another one. Correct me if I’m wrong but it’s as obvious to me as flat earth math is obvious to you. They say “No, co2 is not violating the 2nd, the warm surface still warms the atmos, it’s the net flux that counts”. I believe they calculate downwelling – upwelling. Well….In order to increase the NET of the surface, and seeing this is a function of subtraction, downwelling must decrease.
Follow me here. To get a net increase after taxes, you would have to pay less tax than the previous year. So in order to get a net increase on the surface, the atmosphere flux must be less and less. Am I on to something here?
A follow up with radiative forcing video would fit perfectly in this series and uncover one of the biggest misdirect ions in science aside from flat earth theory. In fact its so harebrained I’d love to know who originated this idea. I wonder if this is another Hansen sleight of hand?

Paraphrasing “As you increase height, the loss is 6.5 degrees per km but as you increase co2, the ceiling becomes higher. Conversely, the lower you go, the temperature increases. Say, an extra km is added to the co2 height, this means it would be 6.5 degrees warmer at the surface”

How can you rationalize the fact that there is an obvious dependence on environmental temperature for the warmer object with your belief that energy cannot move from a cooler to a warmer object? If there is an independent environment then this is independent energy which forms the basis temperature for all objects within it at the get-go, before anything else happens. Climate scientists make the general claim that, without the radiative Greenhouse effect, the average surface temperature of the earth would be -18 C. All water on the earth would freeze and the oceans would turn into ice, and life would not exist as we know it. I don’t believe this one bit.
You have made many good arguments against the radiative Greenhouse effect. I like to add one more. In the solar system, there is the concept of the snow line for water, which is the distance from the sun before a planet surface water turns to ice. I’ve seen references that the snow line for water is 2.7 AU. The earth is well within the snow line so even without the radiative Greenhouse effect the sun is warm enough to maintain liquid water on the earth surface.

Yes that’s an excellent argument. Its exposes the fundamental cognitive dissonance of climate science. Can the sun melt ice on the earth, or no? They believe it strictly can’t, and yet that it does, but not via their models which say that it doesn’t, etc.
Via their GHE models the sun does not melt ice. Which is a consequence of their flat earth geometry. On a round earth as I show, then the sun can melt ice on the earth. Waiting for the shopper in the car this am about 6 above but the sun shining through the window felt hot on bare skin while the air temp was quite cool. I can’t understand why if most of our heat is reradiated to earth from the atmosphere how can the sun feel any different. If they were correct their could be no difference between direct sun or standing in the shade. Even animals have enough sense to seek shade on a hot day or sunlight on a cold one. I have tried to build myself my own “talking points”, starting from a GHE debunking via the First Law of Thermodynamics, then writing down the typical objections I would expect from the alarmists, and rebutting them. I would much appreciate your critique / suggestions. In particular, the point referring to GHE as a blanket is one that gets a lot of “success” and I’m not satisfied with my rebuttal (I have highlighted my reply with a yellow background). Claims of the alarmists are in red.

When you add insulation to your home it not only keeps the house warmer in winter but also cooler in summer as it blocks out the hot sun just the same as a cloud blocks out the sun and keeps us cooler on earth. Even from temp. source of 400°C you still have almost 10% radiation power from that source at 15um.

I read sometimes the “net heat transfer” is from hot to cold. This is used to allow “back radiation” because it is “brutto”. They claim then because the netto heat transfer is still from hot to cold, the back radiation (which they claim is heat transfer from cold to hot) would be ok.
But i think there’s just heat transfer and every single heat transfer should follow the hot to cold law.

Need a little help here in forming an argument. I wish to convey that Absolute Humidity does not warm our atmosphere and has no consistent positive correlation to Longwave radiation.
I recently downloaded some hourly data of ERA-5 Hourly data for my hometown. They happen to have data for “long wave radiation, temp, RH etc etc. From temp and RH I was able to extract Absolute Humidity or Water Vapour. The data is only for 2019
During the month July it is observed that Water Vapour and LW Radiation are opposite as obviously is Temp and Water Vapour.
I then compared this to the month of January (wet season) where they do appear to correlate. Opposite to our Winter Months.
This observation for the month of July totally proves that more Water Vapour does not cause higher temperature
Absolute humidity formula I found is within pick at bottom right.

The confusion with water vapor is it is part of the cooling process. Large amounts of water vapor in the atmosphere means it has transferred large amounts of thermal energy from the surface already.
That is a transference of energy from surface o the atmosphere, and sure it may warm the regional part of the atmosphere a little, but that is not going back to the surface to warm it up more. That energy has already left the surface and is not effectively returning.
The water cycle if allowed to complete its process, both lifts thermal energy from the surface and in return cools the surface again as rain, it however does not increase surface temperatures. The presence of water vapor maintains a reduced temperature longer, usually overnight.
Hope this made some sense, I’m on pain pills.
In climate science, they do contradict themselves from source to source. Once source can claim water vapor absorbs LWR and increases surface temperature, exactly the opposite of the water vapor process. Some sources, correctly explain that water vapor reduces surface temps making temps at say the Tropics more bearable.
I’ve heard estimates of the tropics topping off at 67C without water vapor relocating that thermal energy.
Water vapor does not increase surface temps, not how the process works.

CO2 in a relaxed state is not IR active exactly like Nitric Oxide but does that mean it can absorb other rays?
Once CO2 is heated it does emit IR but does not absorb IR photons, both are IR active after spinning to a higher vibrational state.
So how would CO2 absorb EM Radiation by way of photons from the surface? It’s main function would be reflection and scattering, very much like it is in the upper atmosphere with NO.
So in simple conclusion, CO2 is never really doing any function but cooling the atmosphere by absorbing kinetic energy and re-radiating it.
When would it be able to absorb a photon?
Can it absorb a photon as it is returning to a lower vibrational state (ground state)?
